When my friend Justyn texted me and told me he was at Savers, I quickly texted back and wrote “I’m sorry.”
I’m not a fan of that thrift store. But after Justyn told me what he found…I reconsidered.
He was holding a silk Christian Dior scarf.
I was at the store in record time and I’m pretty sure I broke about 15 traffic laws along the way.
When I got there he showed me this:
Oh. My. God. It was beautiful and…authentic.
It was nestled among Anne Klein and Liz Claiborne scarves…which were actually priced higher! What?! This Dior scarf was TWO DOLLARS!
So I dug in. I carefully looked at every scarf…and…a fabulous fashion find: Authentic Givenchy!
Justyn told me on other trips to the store he found YSL, Armani, Balenciaga, a Cartier watch and a piece by Halston.
So the moral of this shopping story my fellow fashionistas is… don’t judge a book…or in this case…a store by its cover. If you dig deep enough, you never know what you may find.
I researched the scarves and found out the Dior is vintage 1970’s and the Givenchy retails for around $800. I paid $4 for both.
I’ll be back to look for more gems later this week. I’ll let you know what else I find…..
